What I learned in school
Well
let’s see what I learned in school:
Elementary
school—too long ago to remember
High
School---Mr. Halas made learning history boring, too bad for me. I am really interested in history now.
College
(Associates degree)—again, a log time ago, learned, passed, got a great job.
College (Bachelors degree)---2005—I learned that I
can do anything I set my sites on. I learned to love learning, I learned that
there was so much to learn and I enjoyed every minute of it.
College
(Masters)---I learned that adults are so much better to learn with than when I
was in my teens and early 20s. I learned that hard work pays off. I learned
that a Masters degree garnered a certain amount of respect among my peers.
College
(Doctorate)---still learning, I learned patience, and perseverance. I learned that writing a dissertation is by
far the hardest thing I have ever done. I learned to respect the advice from my
chairperson. If I was told to re-write something, everything, I did it and
enjoyed it (mostly). I learned it was okay not to always be present for my kids and family. I survived, they survived. I learned that I made the best decision to get my
doctorate.
Wow, so you're the proverbial example of "you never stop learning ", a doctorate? Congratulations on so much dedication and stamina! What is your dissertation about?
ReplyDeleteHi Tamara:
ReplyDeleteYes, I certainly am a life-long learner. Since I completed my dissertation in November 2016, I feel like a fish out of water. No more classes, no more $$. My dissertation was about student engagement and online classes. Since online courses are becoming more and more popular, how engaged are students with their professors and the course material?
I feel a little lacking compare to you. I don't have a masters or a doctorate, in fact, I am certain I can't get either one as I'm terrible when it comes to learning inside a classroom. I guess it all depends on the teachers. I have one teacher in school who told me I was his boring student but then he was the most boring teacher so...
ReplyDeletehave a lovely day.
